That is my nickel in the well and i think if it was intended for a power to not need to roll to hit, it would be a malediction. But, even if that is not the case, due to the fact that a power is a witchfire/focused witchfire by nature, it needs to roll to hit whether they spell it out specifically in the power's profile or not. I think the reason Jaws has it spelled out is because if i remember correctly Jaws used to auto hit and i think they are just trying to make sure everyone knows that it does not. This is the same as the Maleceptor's power even though the Maleceptor's power does not have a traditional weapon profile. The Zoanthrope now needs to roll to hit, all manifesting the power did was allow it to now have the ability to fire warp blast. When a Zoanthrope casts warp blast, once they throw their power dice and their opponent fails/neglects to deny, the warp blast is now "manifested". The power being sucessfully "manifested" only means that the psyker is able to now fire this witchfire power. People are getting trapped in a line of thinking that the power being "manifested" means it is going to automatically effect the target. I think the hang up for people is the idea that on the successful psychic test and the failed deny roll that the power is "manifested". Is there any precedent where there are unnecessary to hit rolls? It honestly feels like we are trying to hard to be clever. I have refrained from posting on this topic due to the clusterscrew that was the last topic. In the manner which they are which doesn't require a hit to ressolve. Such as Psychic overload were to require "a hit", they would be presented like Jaws, and not This is an example of a spell without a weapons profile that requires a to hit roll. It is important to bring up the spell Jaws of the World Wolf from the tempestus dicipline. But the powers like Psychic Shriek only require a targetĪnd not any successful hits for them to be resolved. Often, this will result in the spell being unable to continue, as a successful hit is required for itsĮffects such as with the Power Smite. So with all spells after the rolling to hit, you continue resolving the spell hit or miss. My response to this is "Target" effects only require a valid target and therefore do not requireĪ successful to hit roll in order for their Target effects to be ressolved.Īfter rolling to hit, with a witchfire, I do not see anything that tells me to stop resolving the power Many People have asked the question do Focused Witch fires Roll To hit? The answer to this isĭo witchfires require a successful roll to hit in order for their effects to ressolve?
